Connections
S3 Connections
Connect to Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, MinIO, and other S3-compatible endpoints.
Ternux supports connecting directly to AWS S3 and S3-compatible APIs (like Backblaze B2, MinIO, or Cloudflare R2). Unlike SSH connections that open a terminal, connecting to an S3 host opens a file transfer tab directly.
Adding an S3 connection
- In Connections, click New Connection or press
Cmd+N/Ctrl+N. - Choose S3 as the Connection Type.
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Friendly display name shown on the card |
| Endpoint | Yes | Leave blank for AWS, or enter the custom URL (e.g., https://<account>.r2.cloudflarestorage.com) |
| Region | Yes | Usually us-east-1 or auto for non-AWS providers |
| Bucket | Yes | The target bucket name |
| Access Key | Yes | Stored securely in the Vault |
| Secret Key | Yes | Stored securely in the Vault |
Testing the connection
Before saving, you can click Test Connection at the bottom of the dialog. Ternux will attempt to list the bucket and show a success or error message inline.
Connecting
- Double-click the S3 host card in the Connections grid.
- Right-click → File Transfer.
- Select it via the Spotlight palette (
Cmd+K).
The S3 connection opens immediately into a File Transfer tab showing your bucket contents alongside your local filesystem.
