Connections
FTP Connections
Connect to standard FTP servers for file transfer.
Ternux supports connecting directly to standard FTP servers. Unlike SSH connections that open a terminal, connecting to an FTP host opens a file transfer tab directly.
Adding an FTP connection
- In Connections, click New Connection or press
Cmd+N/Ctrl+N. - Choose FTP as the Connection Type.
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Friendly display name shown on the card |
| Host | Yes | IP address or hostname of the FTP server |
| Port | Yes | Default 21 |
| Username | Yes | FTP login username |
| Password | Yes | Stored securely in the Vault |
Testing the connection
Before saving, you can click Test Connection at the bottom of the dialog. Ternux will attempt to log in to the FTP server and show a success or error message inline.
Connecting
- Double-click the FTP host card in the Connections grid.
- Right-click → File Transfer.
- Select it via the Spotlight palette (
Cmd+K).
The FTP connection opens immediately into a File Transfer tab showing the remote filesystem alongside your local filesystem.
