FTP Transfer

Browse, upload, and download files from standard FTP servers.

Ternux supports transferring files to and from standard FTP servers using the same dual-pane interface used for SFTP and S3.

Starting an FTP session

You must first have an FTP Connection saved in your Connections tab.

  1. Double-click the FTP connection card, or
  2. Right-click the FTP connection card → File Transfer.

A new File Transfer tab opens with your local filesystem on the left and the FTP server on the right.

Transferring files

Transfers work exactly like SFTP:

  1. Select files or folders in either pane.
  2. Drag and drop them to the opposite pane, or
  3. Right-click → Upload / Download.

All transfers are added to the background queue, visible in the Activity Panel (`Ctrl+``).

File operations

Right-clicking a file or folder in the FTP pane exposes standard operations:

ActionDescription
RenameRename in-place
DeletePermanently delete (no trash)
New FolderCreate a directory
View / EditOpen small files in the text editor dialog

Standard FTP transmits data (including credentials) in plaintext. For secure transfers, prefer SFTP via an SSH connection.
