Managing Panes

Resize, rearrange, fullscreen, and close individual panes inside a workspace.

Each pane in a workspace has its own header bar with controls for managing that pane independently of the others.

Resizing panes

Drag the divider handle between two panes to resize them:

  • Vertical divider — drag left/right to change column widths.
  • Horizontal divider — drag up/down to change row heights.

Panes enforce a minimum size so they never collapse completely.

Rearranging panes

You can reorder panes within the same workspace:

  1. Click and hold the drag handle in the pane header.
  2. Drag toward the left, right, top, or bottom edge of another pane.
  3. A blue zone highlight shows where the pane will land — release to swap.

Fullscreen a single pane

To focus on one pane without closing the others:

  • Press Cmd+Shift+F (macOS) / Ctrl+Shift+F (Linux / Windows), or
  • Click the fullscreen icon in the pane header.

The selected pane fills the entire workspace area. The other panes are hidden but still running.

To exit fullscreen, press Esc or click the fullscreen icon again.

Renaming a pane

By default, the pane title updates automatically based on the shell's working directory or the SSH host name. To lock a custom title:

  1. Right-click the pane header → Rename.
  2. Type your custom name and press Enter.

The title is now locked and will not auto-update. Right-click → Rename again to change or clear it.

Closing a pane

Click the × button in the pane header.

  • If the pane is an SSH session, a confirmation dialog appears before closing.
  • If only one pane remains after closing, the workspace automatically converts back to a regular terminal tab.

Closing the entire workspace

Close the workspace tab from the tab bar (Cmd+W / Ctrl+Shift+W). A confirmation dialog lists all active sessions inside the workspace.
